Allotrope Foundation Launched
June 4, 2012
In June 2012, the Allotrope Foundation, an unincorporated, not-for-profit association, was formed in Washington DC to develop and implement a fully open information standard for the analytical laboratory. This initiative began in April 2011 under IQ’s Analytical Leadership Group, and is now an independent organization. Since its establishment, the association has articulated a clear set of objectives and grown in size. Starting in 2013, the Allotrope Foundation’s initiative will begin with the hiring of external experts who will work closely with diverse subject matter experts from member companies to build an open source information framework for the analytical laboratory. The Foundation’s work is expected to have global impact, influencing numerous downstream processes that depend on analytical data.
