The 7 Elements Required for an Effective Green Chemistry Program

IQ’s Green Chemistry Working Group made important strides in accomplishing its goal of publicizing the use of green processes and technologies to a broader public this fall, when they published “The Seven Elements Required for an Effective Green Chemistry Program” in Organic Research Process and Development. Written by a team of six individuals from IQ Consortium member companies, this article highlights important factors for establishing and maintaining green chemistry programs – which include, among other factors, empowered teams, metrics and targets, investment and collaboration. The article provides important real-world examples of programs implemented by pharmaceutical companies, and provides insight with potential to help managers of nascent and established green chemistry programs to increase the sustainability and efficacy of their programs.
